The Speaker of the House of Representatives Mrs. Anita Demetriou received today, Friday, 18 March 2022, at the "Filoxenia" Conference Centre, students and teachers of the Technical and Vocational School of Education and Training (TESEK) Makarios III Nicosia, as part of the temporary installation of a disinfection gate designed by the students of Industrial Design and constructed by the students of Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Applied Arts, Hotel Studies and Chemistry of this school in collaboration with their teachers.
The disinfectant gate is operated by an electronic eye that triggers automatic emission of a small cloud of disinfectant liquid droplets of natural origin that evaporates in a few seconds, neutralizing microbes without adversely affecting clothing or other materials.
The Speaker of the House warmly congratulated the students and teachers of TESEC Makarios III for their inventive initiative and their very worthy research effort, which creates promising prospects for the future of the country. Ms Demetriou announced that the disinfecting gate will be used in the near future at the Convention Centre premises during the proceedings of the House of Representatives, as a sign of the body's practical support for the research initiatives of young people and encouragement for even greater research successes.
