As part of her meetings with the parliamentary parties, Justice and Public Order Minister Anna Koukkidi Prokopiou and officials of the Ministry met today with a delegation of the Democratic Rally (DISY).
During the meeting, Ms Prokopiou presented the objectives and priorities of the Ministry of Justice and Public Order as well as the legislation expected to be submitted to the Parliament in the coming period. An exchange of views followed.
Speaking after the meeting, Justice and Public Order Minister Anna Koukkidi Prokopiou said that she had the pleasure of welcoming the DISY delegation to the Ministry of Justice and Public Order. She described the meeting as very productive as issues concerning the parliamentary body were discussed, legislation that the Ministry of Justice is asking DISY MPs to promote and vote on, while work that has been completed was also discussed. The Minister of Justice thanked DISY for showing a very positive spirit at the meeting and expressed confidence that cooperation on issues concerning the good of the country will always be smooth.
For his part, DISY Parliamentary Representative Mr. Nikos Tornaritis also described the meeting as productive. He noted that a number of issues were discussed, including terrorism and organized crime. He added that bills currently before the Parliament, as well as those that will be submitted to the Parliament in the coming months, were analysed. Tornaritis stressed that DISY will remain beneficial for the country and where it agrees it will vote in favour and where it disagrees it will express the opposing view with arguments. Finally, he thanked the Minister of Justice for the meeting and wished every success for the good of the security of the citizen and the Cyprus Justice.
