Following previous meetings and consultations, the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, Mr Prodromos Prodromou, held a meeting today at the Ministry with representatives of private universities to discuss ways to better promote Cyprus as a centre of higher education.

Speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Education said that, based on a decision of the Council of Ministers to support university education, we should promote Cyprus as a country where quality university education is provided. In this context, he pointed out that a comprehensive planning should be carried out, so that interested students have direct information and access to reliable information regarding the Universities and their programmes of study.

To this end, an agreement was reached to set up an advisory body, with the participation of representatives of the Universities, in order to gather the necessary material for information and promotion. The Minister indicated that he would submit a proposal to this effect to the Council of Ministers.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Universities of Nicosia, European, Frederick, Neapolis, UCLAN and Philips, as well as the President of the Higher Education Assurance and Accreditation Body (HEA), the Director and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (CIPA) and a representative of the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On the side of the Ministry, the Director General and the Director of Higher Education participated.
