The Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, Mr Prodromos Prodromos, met today with the Advisory Committee on Policy Issues for Culture. The meeting was also attended, from the Ministry's side, by the Deputy Minister of Education, Mr. The Director of Cultural Services Mr. Kyprianos Louis.
During the meeting, a briefing was held on the progress of the examination of the bill for the creation of a Deputy Ministry of Culture. The members of the Committee expressed their support for the creation of the Deputy Ministry as a state body for the management of cultural issues and the expectation that the examination of the bill will be completed as soon as possible.
The Minister also briefed the Committee on the progress of the work on the legislative proposal for the establishment of the professional status of artists and workers in the field of culture. This was followed by a constructive discussion with suggestions and opinions on the subject.
Finally, reference was made to the Minister's intention to prepare a legislative proposal to encourage sponsorship for cultural creation.
