Papadopoulos welcomed the increased appropriations of the State Budget and the Budget of the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy for agriculture and environment and noted the assistance of DIKO in the implementation of the government's project for the development of the primary sector of production and environmental protection.

The main issues discussed at the meeting were the need to restructure the wine sector for the benefit of wine growers, as well as the need to continue the work of the Cyprus Potato Marketing Council for potato producers.

For his part, Mr. Xenophontos informed the President of DIKO about the priorities of the Ministry and expressed his determination to take all necessary steps for the implementation of the government's programme within the framework of the Ministry's responsibilities. In conclusion, he thanked the President of DIKO for the meeting and expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment and DIKO, noting that the positions of the party, as well as those of the other political parties, are taken into account in the formulation and implementation of the policy of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.
