The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Mr.Petros Xenophontos had today, Saturday 30 September 2023, a meeting in his office with the Greek MEP Mr.George Kyrtsos, member of the Renew Europe political group, in the framework of his official visit to Cyprus.
During the meeting, which took place in a cordial atmosphere, issues of environment, green transition and international challenges affecting our region were discussed. Mr. Xenophontos highlighted Cyprus' determination to provide the necessary cooperation and actively contribute to the protection of the environment and the fight against climate change.
In addition, the discussion focused on the international challenges arising from Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The two sides discussed the possible implications of this development in the Mediterranean.
The meeting also highlighted the benefits for Cyprus as a member state of the European Union and examined opportunities for cooperation with neighbouring countries on environmental and economic issues.
The meeting was an opportunity to strengthen ties between Cyprus and Greece at the European level, as well as to exchange views and ideas on how to address the common challenges faced by the two countries.
