It was decided to immediately convene the Working Group, which was set up following the meeting of the President of the Republic with the Farmers' Organizations last Friday, and the immediate payment of compensation for the damage caused to the potato crop, as well as for other damage caused to other crops during the 2022-2023 growing season.
It was also decided to convene the Management Committee of the Agricultural Production Protection and Insurance Fund to approve a payment list for wheat farmers affected by the drought during the 2022-2023 growing season. The payment list will be forwarded for approval to the Council of Ministers at its next meeting on December 20, 2023, so that the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment will be ready to pay compensation to affected wheat farmers in early 2024.
In addition, the claim for overconsumption of water this year due to the heatwave and other extreme weather conditions was considered and it was decided that 17 cents be paid instead of the 45 cents provided for due to the overconsumption. Also discussed was the revision of the national framework for granting state aid and in particular the increase of the compensation rate, as well as the revision of the average production conditions and it was decided to discuss the issue extensively in the context of the ongoing consultation of the Ministry with the Farmers' Organisations.
