The Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance announces that the upcoming adjustment of the national minimum wage was discussed at today's meeting of the Labour Advisory Council, the prospect of targeted relief in the actuarial adjustment for early retirement and the extension of Social Security Fund benefits for self-employed workers. Members were also informed about the government's intention to conduct a full digital census of the country's active labour force in conjunction with the planned upgrade of the relevant technological infrastructure.
Regarding the renewal of the minimum wage decree, the progress of the work of the Minimum Wage Adjustment Committee was presented and the views of the social partners were analysed, while the Government expressed its intention to seek to formulate a consensual framework that would be mutually beneficial in accordance with the needs of society and the potential of the economy.
With regard to the prospect of targeted relief in the actuarial adjustment for early retirement, clarifications were provided and questions were answered on the proposal submitted by the Government and views were presented by the social partners, while it was agreed to continue the discussion focusing on the technical aspects of the issue with a timeframe of the end of January.
In relation to the extension of Social Insurance Fund benefits for self-employed workers, the content of the draft bill already prepared by the Ministry was presented. Under the proposed bill, parental leave and benefits for accidents at work and occupational diseases will be paid to self-employed workers who meet certain conditions for benefits to which they were not entitled in the past.
Finally, the social partners were informed about the upgrade of the technological infrastructure of the Ministry of Labour and the intention to establish a complete digital census of all employees in order to enable the updating of data for the benefit of both employees and workers.
