The Head of Humanitarian Affairs of Missing and Trapped Persons Ms Anna Aristotelous met with the Rector of the University of Cyprus, Professor Tasos Christofides, at the University of Cyprus.
With the aim of developing actions and strengthening cooperation on issues concerning young interned and resettled persons living in our occupied villages, children of our missing persons in the free areas who wish to broaden their educational horizons and knowledge, as well as the development of programs and actions concerning the recording of historical data and information, the conclusion of a Memorandum of Cooperation was agreed upon.
The aim of the MoU is to develop educational, social and research activities, beyond the compatible framework of building facilities and learning and teaching opportunities offered by the University. The aim is also to diversify the approach of the stakeholders in a more familiar environment, with topics beyond their everyday life, without cognitive constraints and at the same time attractive to them. Through new ways of approach, participants will be able to broaden their cognitive horizons and objectives, with knowledge taking place in all areas of their lives, in order to be able to manage in the best possible way the challenges and rapid changes in social life.
"In addition to university education, which is offered to those who are interested in acquiring it, we aim, within the framework of the President's Governance Programme, to cultivate the cognitive literacy of all our stranded and resettled fellow human beings." Ms. Aristotelous said, stressing that for the first time we will seek to offer social education of various interests to all ages and even in a familiar environment, while thanking and congratulating the Rector of the University of Cyprus for his excellent and innovative initiatives.
