Meeting with the General Secretary of the Cyprus Farmers' Union (CSU) Mr. Panicos Hambas and its representatives Mr. Thomas Thomas Thomas and Mr. John Demetriou, the representative of the Cyprus Farmers' Union (CUP) Mr. Panicos Eleftheriou, the representative of the Cyprus Panagricultural Association Mr. Ilias Feneck, the representative of New Agrotia Mr. Takis Christodoulou and the representative of the Euroagricultural Association of Cyprus Mr. Lambros Achilleos had today the Head of Humanitarian Affairs for Missing and Trapped Persons Anna Aristotelous. The meeting was held at the invitation of the Cyprus Farmers' Union.
During the meeting, the representatives of the organisations referred to the various actions, agricultural projects and initiatives undertaken by them. Special reference was made to the excellent initiative of Mr Panikos Hambas to publish a book entitled: "The Seed Journey" in the framework of a European Programme. The book includes a fairy tale walk through the traditional seeds of Cyprus.
The meeting also discussed the various plans that exist to support farmers in the free areas and especially in the mountainous areas, and stressed the need for equal treatment of the interned and resettled farmers living in our occupied villages with farmers in the free areas.

The Head of Humanitarian Affairs of Missing and Internally Displaced Persons expressed her support to the farmers' organizations, noting that their initiatives, actions and suggestions are very important for the preservation of our tradition. She also stressed the need to support our interned and resettled people to stay in our occupied villages, as well as the need to provide incentives for resettlement. She explained that from the first moment she took office, she has been holding private meetings with the interned and resettled people to map their problems and needs, with the aim of managing and addressing them on the basis of the President's Governance Programme. "Agriculture," said Ms. Aristotelous, "is the main job of our interned and resettled people, so measures are being taken to support it."
Finally, the Head of State congratulated the representatives of the agricultural organisations for their continuous efforts to preserve our history and traditions, to strengthen the agricultural profession, as well as for their initiatives and actions.
