Minister of State for Tourism: "Establishing closer cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain is among our objectives."

A meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Cyprus Mr. Khaled Yusuf Ahmed Al Jalahma, who is based in Tel-Aviv, was held today, Tuesday, April 16, by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Costas Koumis, at the offices of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism in Nicosia.

During the meeting, there was an exchange of views on tourism relations between the two countries, with particular emphasis on the issues of air links and the prospects that are currently being presented. Costas Koumis expressed the view that, taking into account the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries, it is important for the tourism operators of the two countries to establish closer relations, with the ultimate aim of establishing cooperative relations.

He also made special reference to the history of the air link between the two countries, linked by direct flights since 1976, adding that establishing closer cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain is among our objectives, taking into account both the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and the fact that Manama Airport is an airport with a strong transit function. He also made references to Gulf Air's large and remarkable flight programme.

The meeting was considered highly productive by both Mr. Koumi and the Ambassador. The two sides agreed to continue discussions between them in the coming weeks.
