[PIO] Meeting of the Deputy Minister of Tourism and the Deputy Minister of Tourism with the Association of Cyprus Travel and Tourism Agents

A meeting was held today at the Presidential Palace between the Deputy Minister to the President Mrs. Irene Piki and the Deputy Minister of Tourism Mr. Kostas Koumi and a delegation of the Association of Cyprus Travel and Tourism Agents (ACTTA), headed by the President of the Association Mr. During the meeting, issues concerning the wider tourism industry of our country were discussed, as well as issues concerning the Cyprus Association of Travel and Tourism Agents, which are mainly related to the professional activities of the Association's members.

Among the issues discussed were the need to regulate and modernize certain legislation related to both inbound and outbound tourism, finding ways to mitigate the problem of seasonality, which has been plaguing our country's tourism for decades, the air connection, and the need to create infrastructure for hosting major events, such as regional exhibitions, conferences and others.

Also discussed were issues related to the transport sector and the new trends that tend to prevail in the global tourism market.

Deputy Minister of State Mrs. Irene Piki said that undoubtedly, tourism in our country offers a lot to the economy, but also to the society of the country, and therefore, the issues that concern the leading players in tourism should be thoroughly studied in order to find solutions.

For his part, the Deputy Minister of Tourism Mr. Costas Koumi said that the Deputy Ministry of Tourism has excellent cooperation with the Association of Travel and Tourism Agents and the detailed suggestions of the Association are always examined and processed, since the improvement of the tourism services offered in our country is a common vision and goal of both bodies.
