The Commissioner of the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Agency (CAP), accompanied by the Assistant Commissioner and other officials of the Agency, held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Mr Nicodemus Damianou. The Commissioner expressed his warm congratulations and best wishes for every success in the new duties of the Deputy Minister.
The Commissioner briefed the Deputy Minister on the Agency's competences and objectives, as well as on the European grant programmes and the protection of European and national funds. He added that among the primary objectives of the Agency are timely and accurate payments, further upgrading of the Agency's electronic systems, simplifying the submission of applications, disbursing as many European funds as possible, upgrading the information received by the farmer on the measures subsidised by the Agency, maximising the service provided to the farming community and generally supporting the wider Cyprus countryside in a variety of ways.
The Commissioner also mentioned that the CFCA is subject to multiple audits by the Certifying Body, the Auditor General and the European Commission and, therefore, the Agency's effort is to create a modern model for the development of its systems based on the knowledge of experienced advice on innovation and systems development in order to be able to meet the audits and requirements of the European Union.
The Deputy Minister thanked the Commissioner and expressed his full support both to him and to the Agency, stating that the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy will be at the disposal of the Agency for any assistance needed, as well as for the exchange of views and submission of suggestions, keeping in mind the good of the Cypriot farmer.
