Kostas Kumis: "Despite the challenges, the country's tourism confirms evidence of resilience."

Tourist arrivals in March 2024 recorded a satisfactory increase of 9.8%, reaching 202,256, compared to 184,263 in March 2023, according to the Statistical Office of the Republic, while for the period January - March 2024, arrivals reached 415.251 compared to 393,893 in the corresponding period of 2023, an increase of 5.4%.

The main sources of tourist arrivals for the month of March were the United Kingdom (64,414), Poland (21,054) and Germany (19,732). The reality is that our country's tourism has to cope with prolonged challenges in the last period of time. It is well known that we have to deal not only with geopolitical instability in the Eastern Mediterranean region, but also with economic instability in Central and Western European markets and negative circumstances in the aviation sector.

What pleases us is that, despite the challenges, our country's tourism confirms evidence of resilience. As the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, we monitor every development that either directly or indirectly affects the tourism sector and we always try to find solutions.

We remain optimistic that the target we have set for a performance similar to last year's will be achieved.

Our priorities for 2024 include the continuous improvement of our country's tourism product, an objective that is reflected through the incentive plans we have announced in recent months, aimed at both improving the attractiveness of the destination and further strengthening the resilience of tourism businesses."
