[PIO] Joint meeting of the Permanent Representations of Cyprus and Greece, in the presence of the two Ministers of Agriculture, in Brussels

The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mr.Petros Xenophontos, accompanied by the Deputy Ambassador Mr.Nikos Argyrides and members of the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the EU, met yesterday, November 19, 2023, with the Minister of Rural Development and Food of Greece, Mr. Eleftherios Avgenakis, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Greece Mr. Efthymios Kostopoulos and members of the Permanent Representation of Greece to the EU, in Brussels.

The main point of discussion was the creation of a crisis prevention and management mechanism in view of the phenomena occurring due to the climate crisis, the response to the invasion of alien species in the Mediterranean and measures to be taken on powdery mildew and acariasis.

In addition, issues related to the agenda of the EUMED-9 Summit to be held in January were discussed, such as the issue of increasing the agricultural reserve, simplifying procedures and giving flexibility to Member States for the implementation of the CAP.
