Methodological information

Definitions

A vacant job is a paid position that has either been recently created, not filled or is about to be filled, and for which the employer is taking active action to find a candidate outside the undertaking concerned and intends to fill it either immediately or within a specified period of time.

Vacancy rate is the ratio of vacancies to total employees and vacancies.

Data coverage

The survey covers enterprises with 1 or more persons employed classified in all economic activities according to the NACE Rev. 2 of the European Union, except Sections A (Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing), T (Activities of Households as Employers; Undifferentiated goods and services activities of households for own use) and U (Activities of Unincorporated Enterprises).

Data Collection

Data are collected through a telephone survey of businesses, conducted on a quarterly basis.

For more information, the public can visit the Statistical Service Gateway, under Labor Market, CYSTAT-DB (Database), Predefined Tables (Excel), Methodological Information, or contact Ms. Maria Koussiis at 22602235 or at mkkoushi@cystat.mof.gov.cy.

The Predefined Tables in Excel format include data up to Q4 2021. For data from Q1 2022 onwards, the update is done only in the CYSTAT-DB Database.
