Interior Minister Nikos Nouris is leaving this morning for official contacts with his counterparts in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, as part of his efforts to strengthen the Republic of Cyprus' cooperation with third countries, particularly with regard to migration management.
In particular, the Minister of Interior will have a meeting today with the new Lebanese Minister of Interior, Mr. Bassam Mawlawi. The meeting will review the cooperation between the two countries to date in relation to the bilateral agreement on the readmission of persons and will discuss ways to further strengthen cooperation.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, Mr. Nouris will have an official meeting with the Minister of Interior of Saudi Arabia, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef. The two Ministers will discuss issues of mutual interest, as well as the possibility of Saudi Arabia's assistance in developing synergies between the Republic of Cyprus and third countries in the region, aimed at strengthening the returns sector.
The Minister of Interior will be accompanied by the Director of his Office Mr. Loizo Michael and will return to Cyprus the day after tomorrow afternoon, 10 March 2022.
