[PIO] Installation of Border Xpress Kiosks at Larnaca and Paphos airports

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces the completion of the acceptance and installation of 80 passport control kiosks at Larnaca and Paphos airports (Boarder Xpress Kiosks).

For the implementation of the project "Installation of passport control kiosks at Larnaca and Paphos airports-CY/2019/ISF/SO2.NO3.1" a Grant Agreement was signed on 12 August 2019 between the European Funds Unit of the Ministry of Interior as the Responsible Authority for the Internal Security Fund and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works as the Final Beneficiary. The project budget is €1.641.934 and the duration of the project is 51.5 months from 14.3.2018-30.6.2022.

The project is co-financed 75% by the Homeland Security Fund and 25% by the Republic of Cyprus.

The total budget for the realization of the project is €3.017.920. The project budget includes the contribution from Hermes Airports Ltd.

The aim of the project is to contribute to ensuring a high level of security in the European Union, while facilitating legitimate travel, through a uniform and high level of control at the external borders.

Through the above mentioned passport control kiosks, passport control of incoming and outgoing passengers at the airports, coming from countries of the European Union, the United Kingdom and the This passport control using all relevant databases, in addition to increasing the security of our external borders, contributes to reducing waiting times for arriving and departing passengers, especially during periods of increased air traffic.
