The road network of the Vasilikos Energy and Industrial Area was inaugurated today by the Ministers of Transport, Communications and Works and Energy, Trade and Industry, Mr. Alexis Vafeadis and Mr. George Papanastasiou.
The construction of this important road network serves the liquid fuel storage terminals of EKO, Petrolina, VTTV and VLPG, the Cyprus Reserves Management Organisation (CMPO), as well as the Vasilikos Cement Plant and other industrial units of the area and the Vasilikos Port.
The project, which was supervised by the Department of Public Works, was executed by Iacovou Construction Ltd with funding from the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry at a total cost of €16.7 million,
In order for the road network to be modern and accommodate the new developments, the project includes the widening of the existing main road network in the area and the development of a new one, with two lanes and a length of 9.3 km.

The construction of six roundabouts, a bridge, footpaths and pedestrian crossings, a storm water drainage system, retaining walls and erosion protection works along the river, as well as the installation of street lighting and utilities.
The completion of the project will upgrade the road infrastructure of the Vasilikos Energy and Industrial Area, increase the safety level of the network users and improve the quality of life of the citizens.
