Annual change in sales -1.3%[/I]
In October 2023, total sales of petroleum products reached 130,677 tonnes, a decrease of 1.3% compared to October 2022. A decrease was recorded in sales of kerosene (-48.1%), heating oil (-33.9%) and light fuel oil (-29.1%). In contrast, there was an increase in supplies of oil to aircraft (13.6%) and ships (6.5%), as well as in sales of heavy fuel oil (53.5%), diesel (4.4%), gasoline (3.9%) and LPG (1.7%). As for sales from petrol stations in particular, these showed a marginal increase of 0.3% to 55,192 tonnes.
Total sales of petroleum products in October 2023 compared to September 2023 showed no change. Indicatively, sales of heavy fuel oil increased (97.0%) and sales of gasoline (-3.7%) and diesel (-2.2%) decreased, while supplies to aircraft and ships remained unchanged. Total petroleum product inventories at the end of October 2023 decreased by 4.2% compared to the end of the previous month.
In the January-October 2023 period, total petroleum product sales were flat compared to the same period last year.

Methodological Information
Purpose and Coverage
To collect data on Imports, Sales and Stocks of Petroleum Products is carried out on a monthly basis.
It covers sales of petroleum products from petroleum service stations and sales to government departments, British Bases and the United Nations, ships and other customers, as well as stocks at the end of each month. Only oil companies are covered. In addition, it includes imports of petroleum products directly from the Cyprus Electricity Authority (CPA) and the manufacturing industry.
Data Collection
Data is collected on a monthly basis by the Statistical Service, which receives the specially designed questionnaire electronically from each of the companies concerned.
