In December 2021, total sales of petroleum products reached 129,519 tonnes, an increase of 23.8% compared to December 2020.There was an increase in oil supplies to aircraft (179.2%) and ships (135.7%), as well as in almost all other fuels. Indicatively, sales of bitumen (19.7%), kerosene (19.0%), heating oil (16.4%), gasoline (7.6%) and diesel (1.2%) increased. As for sales from petrol stations in particular, they increased by 7.2% to 64,217 tonnes.
Total sales of petroleum products in December 2021 compared to November 2021 increased by 12.0%. Indicatively, sales of gasoline increased by 8.5% and motor oil by 2.7%, while in contrast, oil supplies to aircraft recorded a 23.1% decline.Total petroleum product stocks at the end of December 2021 decreased by 3.6% compared to the end of the previous month.
Total petroleum product sales in the year 2021 showed an increase of 6.8% compared to 2020. Supplies of petroleum to aircraft increased by 63.9%, while increases were also seen in sales of bitumen (36.9%), gasoline (7.3%) and diesel (7.2%). In contrast, there were decreases in sales of kerosene (-11.5%), heating oil (-9.2%) and oil supplies to ships (-5.2%). In 2021, sales from petroleum product stations amounted to 659,863 tonnes, an increase of 4.9% compared to 2020.

Methodological Information
Purpose and coverage
Import data collection, Sales and Stocks of Petroleum Products is conducted on a monthly basis.
It covers sales of petroleum products from petroleum service stations and sales to government departments, British Bases and the United Nations, ships and other customers, as well as stocks at the end of each month. Only oil companies are covered. In addition, it includes imports of petroleum products directly from the Cyprus Electricity Authority (CPA) and the manufacturing industry.
Data collection
Data is collected on a monthly basis by the Statistical Service, which receives the specially designed questionnaire electronically from each of the companies concerned.
