Annual Change in Sales 9.0%
In April 2024, total sales of petroleum products reached 115,028 tonnes, an increase of 9.0% compared to April 2023. Increases were recorded in supplies of oil to ships (27.5%) and aircraft (6.4%), as well as in sales of heavy and light fuel oil (59.3% and 39.1%, respectively), bitumen (40.7%), gasoline (6.9%) and motor oil (4.9%). In contrast, sales of kerosene (-59.9%), heating oil (-30.3%) and LPG (-3.1%) declined. With regard to sales from petroleum product stations in particular, these showed an increase of 4.6% to 53,037 tonnes.
Total sales of petroleum products in the month of April 2024 compared to March 2024 increased by 6.3%. Indicatively, oil supplies to aircraft (57.4%) and ships (17.7%) increased, while in contrast, sales of diesel (-6.7%) and gasoline (-1.5%) decreased. Total stocks of petroleum products at the end of April 2024 decreased by 14.6% compared to the end of the previous month.
In the January-April 2024 period, total petroleum product sales rose 2.9% compared to the same period last year.

Methodological Information
Purpose and Coverage
Import data collection, Sales and Stocks of Petroleum Products is carried out on a monthly basis.
It covers sales of petroleum products from petroleum service stations and sales to government departments, British Bases and the United Nations, ships and other customers, as well as stocks at the end of each month. Only oil companies are covered. In addition, it includes imports of petroleum products directly from the Cyprus Electricity Authority (CPA) and the manufacturing industry.
Data collection
Data is collected on a monthly basis by the Statistical Service, which receives the specially designed questionnaire electronically from each of the companies concerned.

The Predefined Tables in Excel format include data up to December 2022. For January 2023 and thereafter, the update is done only in the CYSTAT-DB Database.
