Participation of Ms E. Charalambidou at an event on the sidelines of the 30th OSCE Ministerial Conference

Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA) and Special Representative of the Assembly on Combating Corruption Ms. Irene Charalambidou, attended an event to mark the signing ceremony of the Joint Declaration on Fighting Corruption in South-Eastern Europe through Asset Recovery and the Use of Digitalisation. The event took place yesterday on the sidelines of the 30th OSCE Ministerial Council in Skopje.

The meeting was attended and the Joint Statement was signed by the OSCE Chairperson, Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, Mr. Bujar Osmani, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Ivica Dačić, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Elmedin Konaković, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Mr. Filip Ivanović and the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Mr. Igli Hasani. The rationale of the Joint Statement was presented by Ms. Anita Ramasastry, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson on Combating Corruption, who welcomed Ms. Charalambidou's presence at the event and referred to her important, as she described it, activities as Special Representative of the OSCE JC on Combating Corruption.

Ms. Charalambidou responded by expressing her satisfaction with the signing of the Joint Declaration and the prospect of making progress in the critical area of anti-corruption through digitization and asset recovery. He also said that the Joint Statement is an important step in the collective effort to fight corruption.
