The Speaker of the House of Representatives Mrs.Anita Demetriou received today the Ambassador of Israel to Cyprus Mr.Oren Anolik, who subsequently attended the Plenary Session of the House of Representatives, during which the Speaker of the House referred to the Holocaust Victims' Remembrance Day.
During the meeting, Mrs Demetriou stressed the importance that Cyprus attaches to the commemoration of the Holocaust so that, as she said, the messages of this terrible crime against humanity are disseminated in Cypriot society and worldwide, especially to the younger generations, in order to avoid the repetition of similar crimes in the future.
Mr. Anolik expressed Israel's appreciation for the honour that the House of Representatives continues to pay to the victims of the Holocaust every year and for the various commemorative events organized in Cyprus for the Holocaust Victims' Memorial Day.
On this occasion, Mrs. Demetriou and Mr. Anolik reaffirmed their common will to continue the excellent cooperation and exchanges between the House of Representatives and the Knesset.
