A meeting of the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) delegation, consisting of the new High President of AHEPA Mr. Savvas Tsivikos and the Governor of AHEPA Cyprus Mr. George Kallenos.
The main topic of the meeting was the exchange of views regarding the organization of the upcoming major world convention "AHEPA Supreme Convention 2024", which will be held for the first time in Cyprus, in AHEPA's 101 years of activity.
It should be noted that this is the third time that the AHEPA Supreme Convention is being held outside North America. A convention was held in the 1980s in Greece, and was held again in Greece in 2021 on the occasion of the bicentennial of the Greek Revolution of 1821. The 2024 congress will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the tragic events of 1974, which demonstrates the philanthropy of the AHEPA leadership.
The congress will take place from 21 to 28 July 2024, in Larnaca, and is expected to be attended by around 3000 people, most of whom will be visiting Cyprus for the first time, coming mainly from the United States of America.

The Deputy Ministry of Tourism, within the framework of its responsibilities, will actively support the efforts made for the smooth organization of the conference, in cooperation with the Expatriate Service of the Presidency.
The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Costas Koumis, in his statement stressed that the descent of the AHEPA Congress in Cyprus in July 2024 is an honour, a responsibility and an opportunity at the same time. It is an honor because such an important conference is being organized for the first time in Cyprus and even by an organization that has been supporting the principles and values of Hellenism for more than 100 years, a responsibility because hundreds of our compatriots and friends of Cyprus will visit our country, some for the first time, and an opportunity because it is a conference that will give our country the chance to be seen again and again in the United States. He added that not only is it important that the conference is well organized, but it is also very important how we manage the next day of the conference. Savvas Tsivikos, for his part, expressed his warm thanks to the Deputy Minister of Tourism for his willingness to support the AHEPA World Congress and stressed that through the organization of the conference in Cyprus, apart from the promotion of the national problem, there will be significant benefits for the country's tourism.
