Due to the high temperatures recorded in our country, the Medical Services and Public Health Services of the Ministry of Health, remind the protective measures to be taken inside the school units, for protection from the heat wave:

  1. Teaching areas should have fans, and in any case, natural ventilation of the rooms. If air conditioners are provided, they should be used
  2. Avoid exposure to the sun, especially for young children. Continuous exposure to the sun may cause, among other things, sunburn
  3. The use of sunscreen with a high protection index
  4. Stay in shady and cool places and avoid crowds
  5. Dress lightly and comfortably with light-coloured clothing
  6. Use a hat when students are outside the classroom
  7. Avoid intense physical activity outdoors
  8. Cancel physical education classes outdoors at 11:00 a.m:11.00 to 13.30 when hot weather conditions prevail
  9. Avoiding physical exercise and games under the sun during the break
  10. Small and light meals, low in fat, with emphasis on fruit and vegetables
  11. Taking plenty of fluids (water and juices)
  12. In case of excursions, ensure shade for pupils and staff
  13. Particular attention should be paid when high temperatures are combined with increased levels of air pollution and humidity
  14. Children suffering from chronic illnesses should consult their doctor, to receive additional instructions according to their state of health and instructions for a possible change in the dosage of their medication, if necessary
  15. For persons on school premises who are unwell, dizziness, headache, vomiting or other symptoms, medical advice should be sought
