The Ministry of Culture expresses its deepest sorrow at the death of theatre critic Nona Moleski.
Nona Moleski was born in Yerevan, Armenia in 1956 and studied classical literature at Lomonosov University in Moscow. She continued with postgraduate studies in comparative linguistics of ancient Balkan languages at the Institute of Slavonic and Balkan Studies.
She lived in Cyprus permanently since 1982 and worked as a philologist in secondary schools. He became involved in theatre criticism in 1989 and since 1993 he had a permanent column in the newspaper "O Phileleftheros".
He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Theatre Organisation for two terms and a member of the Theatre Awards Committee. She has translated plays from Russian for performances staged by the Cyprus Theatre Organisation, Satirical Theatre, Theatre Ena, Skala Theatre and other theatre companies, and has staged numerous performances with her students in schools.
Her countless writings, unique analyses and "readings" of our country's theatrical performances have contributed significantly to the development of the field as well as to the revival of interest in Cypriot theatre and its creative process.
Her love and dedication to the theatre were unquestionable characteristics and her loss leaves an irreplaceable gap in the culture of our country.
