Violence against women is an obstacle to achieving equality between women and men.
The rights of women and girls continue to be violated in all walks of life, with violence against women - economic, sexual, physical and psychological - continuing to be a global scourge. Women and girls are also used as weapons of war and terrorism. The most extreme manifestation of gender-based violence is femicide.
Today is a day for many women and girls who experience violence every day, and this concerns all of us.
The Office of the Gender Equality Commissioner, in cooperation with all stakeholders and civil society, actively supports and promotes gender equality in order to accelerate its implementation with the ultimate goal, among others, of preventing all forms of gender-based violence.
