The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, Friday, 29 September 2023, at 12:58 pm, a forest fire broke out near the community of Kouklion, Paphos District. The fire was brought under full control at 14:00, after burning eight decares of wild vegetation.
Nine persons of the Forestry Department with two fire engines and seven persons of the Fire Service with two fire engines participated in the extinguishing operation. In addition, a fire engine of the Community of Kouklia participated in the firefighting operation.
The aerial firefighting means also contributed to the extinguishing operation.
The exact causes of the fire are being investigated.
