The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that yesterday, Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 12:45 pm, a fire broke out in an area of the community of Avgoros.
The intervention of the forest firefighting forces was immediate, resulting in the fire being brought under full control at 16:25, before it spread, having burned a small area covered with dung, hay bales and dry grass.
3 people from the Forestry Department with 1 fire engine and 6 people from the Fire Service with 2 fire engines worked to extinguish the fire. Local residents also contributed to the extinguishing effort with 1 agricultural tractor and 1 forklift truck.
The causes of the fire are being investigated.
