The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, Friday, 29 July 2022 at 16:00 a fire broke out in the boundaries of the community of Pera Orini (near the Holy Monastery of Theotokos), Nicosia district.
The intervention of the forest firefighting forces was immediate, resulting in the fire being brought under control at 16:40, burning an area of three hectares, covered by agricultural crops and low wild vegetation.
23 people from the Forestry Department with seven fire engines participated in the operation to extinguish the fire.
The exact causes of the fire are being investigated.
