The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, Friday, 17 May 2024, at 15:59, a fire broke out in an area of the community of Liopetriou.
The intervention of the forest firefighting forces was immediate, resulting in the fire being brought under full control at 16:37, burning an area of one hectare, covered with unmanaged crops and wild vegetation.
Three people from the Forestry Department with one fire engine and five people from the Fire Service with two fire engines worked to extinguish the fire.
The causes of the fire are being investigated.
