The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, Saturday, 10 August 2024 at 08:45, a fire broke out in an area of the Community of Kato Platra.
The intervention of the forest firefighting forces was immediate, resulting in the fire being brought under control at 09:20, before it spread.
11 people from the Forestry Department with 5 fire engines, three people from the Fire Service with one fire engine and two people from the Kato Platres Community Council with one fire engine worked to extinguish the fire.
At first sight the fire seems to have been caused by cables of the electricity supply system.
