The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, Wednesday 22 November 2023 at 14:30, a fire broke out in the location of Sakris in the community of Kato Lefkara, Larnaca district.
The intervention of the forest firefighting forces was immediate and as a result the fire was brought under control at 14:50, after burning about 2 hectares of olive trees, carob trees and other low wild vegetation.
Sixteen people from the Forestry Department with six fire engines and six people from the Fire Department with two fire engines worked to extinguish the fire.
The exact causes of the fire are being investigated.
