The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, Friday, June 28, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., a fire occurred at the location "Alonia" in Prodromi of the Municipality of Polos Chrysochous.
The intervention of the forest firefighting forces was immediate, resulting in the fire being brought under control at 10:40, burning an area of seven decares of wild vegetation.
Twenty Forestry Department personnel with five fire trucks and one earth mover, four Fire Department personnel with two fire trucks, one fire truck from the New Village Community, and one private earth mover participated in the extinguishing operation.
The causes of the fire are being investigated.
