At 13:26, the Paphos Gate Fire Station responded to a fire in an apartment room on the fourth floor of an apartment building in Nicosia, which was brought under control at 13:48.
The fire was contained to the apartment room and the occupant, who was inside the apartment at the time of the fire, exited to safety and alerted to the fire.
The fire and heat caused extensive damage to the apartment room, and the paintwork of the entire apartment was affected by the smoke.
In addition to extinguishing the fire, ventilation was carried out by members of the Fire Department, and a search of all apartments on the floor was conducted for any trapped persons.
An investigation into the causes of the fire is underway, in cooperation with the Police and the Electrical Engineering Department. At first glance, the fire appears to be due to an electrical problem with an electrical appliance within the room.
At 12:59, St. John Fire Station Sergeant Vassilis Krokou responded, following a message, to a fire in a house in the St. John area, Limassol District.
The fire was in the kitchen and toilet area of the house and was brought under control at 13:40.
At the time of the fire, the occupant of the house was absent. Due to the fire and heat, the privy area and the kitchen with its contents were extensively damaged by the fire and heat. In addition, the wooden roof of the house was also damaged. The rest of the house was also affected by the smoke and heat.
The causes of the fire are being investigated, in cooperation with the competent authorities.
