The Fire Service for the three-day period from 06:00 on 1 December 2023 to 06:00 on 4 December 2023 responded to 138 calls for assistance, 89 fires, 37 special services and 12 false calls.
From 06:00 on 3 December 2023 until 06:00 on 4 February 2023, the Fire Service responded to 49 calls for assistance, 32 fires, 11 special services and 6 false calls.
At 12:35 a call was received for a fire in a wooden roof of an auxiliary room of a house in the community of Dromolaxia in Larnaca district. Two fire engines from the Larnaca Fire Station of Lieutenant Andreas Papadopoulos responded and the fire was brought under control at 13:00. From the fire and heat the auxiliary room which was adjacent to a house suffered slight damage. The fire was caused during the application of rock paper to the wooden roof using a gas torch.
At 16:59 a call was received for a fire on a wooden pergola roof of a private house in the community of Kouka in the Limassol district. Two fire engines from the Moniatis Rural Fire Station responded and the fire was brought under control at 17:40. Part of the wooden roof of the pergola was damaged by the fire and heat. The fire was due to a defective fireplace chimney.
At 18:34 a call was received for a fire in a room in the yard of a private house in the community of Finikaria in the Limassol district. A fire truck from the Agios Nikolaos Fire Station responded and the fire was brought under control at 19:16. The fire and heat caused extensive damage to the room in question which contained a sauna facility. After investigation, the fire appears to have been caused by an electrical problem.
