The Department of Antiquities of the Ministry of Culture announces the extension of the temporary exhibition "FIVE" at the Cyprus Museum until Sunday, 7 January 2024. The exhibition, which is organised as part of the co-funded project "Face to Face: Meet an Ancient Cypriot (FF:MAC)", was inaugurated on 31 March 2023 and has since hosted thousands of visitors, leaving laudatory comments.

In response to the warm reception of the public, the Department of Antiquities is also planning a number of guided tours by the Curators of the exhibition on days and times to be announced in advance via its website and its social media pages.

What was it like to live in Cyprus in the past? What were people like, what were their occupations, what did they eat, what were their interests, did they play games or have time for entertainment? The exhibition "FIVE" adopts an anthropocentric approach so that the visitor can come "face to face" with the stories of people from antiquity. The results of specialised bioarchaeological analyses are transformed into narratives that (re)create moments from the life of the man from Souskios, the child with a diadem from Dromolaxia-Vyzakia[/I], the man from Idalios, the woman from Omodos and the woman from Nicosia (Antigonus Street). Their experiences are presented through a creative museological narrative that combines technology, sound, image, archaeological interpretation and finds, making archaeological knowledge accessible and inviting visitors to rethink the way they think and learn about the past. The main exhibition is complemented by a separate area that functions as an annex and attempts to introduce the visitor to the basic principles of bioarchaeology, the study of ancient skeletal remains and all the information we can retrieve from them about the lives of ancient people.

The programme "Face to Face.00 - 18.00 Saturday: 09.00 - 17.00 Sunday 10.00 - 13.00 Monday: closed Every first Wednesday of the month: 08.00 - 20.00.
