The Department of Taxation announces that the submission of the VAT return and the payment of the tax due for the period ended 31 August 2023 is extended until 16 October 2023.
The extension was deemed necessary due to an interruption in the operation of the Department's computer systems, which will take place from October 6, 2023 (3:30 p.m.) through October 8, 2023, for purposes of upgrading the Government Internet Hub.
The Government Internet Hub is expected to reopen on 9 October 2023, at which time the computer systems will return to full operation.
Submission of the above return and payment of any outstanding tax after 16 October 2023 is considered late and is subject to a €100 penalty for failure to submit the return on time, an additional 10% tax on the outstanding VAT and interest until full payment is made.
