[PIO] Event of the Association of Former Members of Parliament of the Republic of Cyprus on "Environmental policy in Cyprus: The present situation

The Association of Former Members of Parliament of the Republic of Cyprus organizes an event on "Environmental Policy in Cyprus: The present situation, obstacles, prospects" on Wednesday, 6 March 2024, at 5.30 pm, at the Parliamentary Committee Meeting Room "Kyrenia" in the House of Representatives[/B].

The President of the Association of Former Members of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Sofoklis Fytti, will address a welcome address and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on the Environment, Mr. Charalambos Theopeptou, will greet the audience. Speakers will be Mr. George Varnavas, former MP, who will present the topic "Environmental policy in Cyprus through renewable energy sources and its obligations towards the European Union", Ms. Eleni Mavrou, former Minister of Interior, former Councillor and former Mayor of Nicosia, who will present the topic "How much is the environment really protected in Cyprus?", and Mr Andreas Kyprianou, former MP, who will present the topic "Individual housing/Renewable energy parks/energy storage facilities, policy mistakes and risks for the environment".

A discussion will follow. The moderator of the event will be Mr Andreas Angelides, former Member of Parliament.

The event will be open to the public.
