The European Regulators Group for Postal Services (ERGP) is concerned about the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. Therefore, it welcomes the voluntary initiatives of the European postal sector to enable and facilitate the delivery of medicines and humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people or to the reception areas of Ukrainian refugees in neighbouring countries.
Furthermore, the ERGP supports initiatives to find and develop alternative postal solutions to help the Ukrainian people and urges all postal operators in Europe to take further action. For this reason, the ERGP calls on postal operators to reduce or abolish the fees they charge for sending parcels, including individual postal items, containing medicine and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Postal Regulatory Authority (NCEC) has informed ERGP that the Ukrainian Postal Service (Ukrposhta) will not charge, for delivery on Ukrainian territory, postal items containing aid sent free of charge by other postal operators.
The National Regulatory Authorities, which are members of the ERGP, have committed themselves to forward this appeal to all postal operators operating on their territory. In this light, the ERGP, which is a founding member of the ERGP and holds the Vice Presidency of the Body for 2022 and will take over the Presidency in 2023, has forwarded the ERGP's appeal to all postal operators operating in Cyprus in order to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people.
The ERGP is composed of the 27 National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) for EU postal services, as well as NRAs from European Economic Area countries and EU candidate countries. The ERGP advises and assists the Commission on the development of the internal market for postal services and on the consistent application of the regulatory framework for postal services in all Member States.
