Persons
The total number of workers employed in Q4 2023 is estimated at 476.767 persons, of which 427,298 are employees and 49,469 are self-employed.
Compared to the same quarter in 2022, total employment for Q4 2023 increased by 1.1%. The most significant percentage increases were observed in Administrative and support service activities (NACE N), Education (NACE P) and Other personal service activities (NACE S).
Hours worked
Actual hours worked for the fourth quarter of 2023 are estimated at 220,830 thousand, an increase of 1.5% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2022. The most significant percentage increases were observed in Administrative and support service activities (NACE N), Education (NACE P) and Other personal service activities (NACE S).

Information is provided on the number of persons employed and hours worked by economic activity and occupational status (self-employed and employees).
The statistics on the number of persons employed and hours worked by economic activity and occupational status (self-employed and employees) are presented on the basis of the NACE Rev.2 classification system. and the methodology for calculating employment in national accounts based on the European System of Accounts 2010 (ESA 2010).
Source of data
For the extraction of the data, data are used on a quarterly basis from the following sources.
- Employment and Vacancy Survey,
- Labour Force Survey,
- Employment (in persons) from the Social Insurance Register,
- General Accounting Office of the Republic.
