The Chief Electoral Officer announces that, in accordance with the provisions of the current electoral legislation, on the day before and on the day of voting, the following activities are prohibited, which are directly or indirectly related to the elections:

(a) Transmission, advertising or publication of any news or announcement, with or without payment.

(b) Public meetings and the organization of speeches and public debates.

(c) Posting of billboards of any combination or candidate.

(d) Publication of poll results or exit polls.

The exception to this rule is newspapers published on the eve of an election, which may publish only news from the previous day's election rallies.

It is clarified that the websites of political parties and candidates may remain in operation on the eve and on the day of the elections, as they can be visited at the will of the internet user. By analogy, content posted on social media or party/candidate or election staff accounts online before the eve of the election may remain. Advertisements with or without payment and/or links to party/candidate accounts that may be construed as advertising should be removed. During the above period, the posting of new content is also prohibited.

Violators of the above provisions of the Law are guilty of a criminal offence and, upon conviction, are liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or a fine of up to €5.000 or to both penalties together.
