The Chief Electoral Officer announces that, in accordance with the provisions of the current electoral legislation, blind persons or persons with physical disability may vote on their own if they declare to the presiding officer that they are able to do so.
A voter who, because of blindness or other physical disability, is unable to vote alone may also request the presiding officer to assist him or her in exercising his or her right to vote, as he or she wishes, in the presence of one of the polling station assistants.
Blind or physically handicapped persons may also, if they wish, request any other person in their absolute confidence to vote on their behalf, without the intervention of any other person.
The presiding officer may explain the method of voting to a disabled, incapacitated or illiterate voter, carefully avoiding any action that may be construed as advice or instruction in favour of a particular combination or candidate.
