The Governing Board of the European Organisation for Electrotechnical Standardisation (CENELEC) elected its Member, Director of Standardisation of the Cyprus Organization for Standardisation (CYS) Mr. Pambos Kammas as Member of the Financial Committee of the organisation (FINPOL) for the 3 years 2022-2024.
This event, apart from the opportunity for additional scope to contribute to the economic governance of CENELEC, is another practical recognition of CYS as an important partner in European Standardization.
FINPOL is the financial arm of the CENELEC Governing Board, and together with its CEN counterpart, CACCFIN, is responsible for the smooth financial operation of the 2 largest European Standards Bodies CEN & CENELEC.
FINPOL and CACCFIN are responsible, inter alia, for the preparation of the annual and 3-year budgets, the monitoring of the smooth implementation of the current budgets, as well as the audit of the audited financial statements of each previous year, and their referral with a recommendation to the General Assemblies for approval. In cooperation with the Secretariat and the Financial Directorate of the 2 Organisations, they are in charge of dealing with all matters relating to financial and sustainability issues affecting the interests of CEN & CENELEC, and are accountable to the Boards and through them to their General Assemblies.
Through this platform, CYS will work to achieve the objectives set to actively contribute to the sustainable development of standardisation in Europe, through projects funded by the 2 Organisations to support and implement the CEN/CENELEC Strategy 2030.
