In order to better inform consumers, the Consumer Protection Service has completed a survey to collect data on the retail price levels of fresh meat and paschal delicacies for the prices in force on 25 April 2024.

With regard to fresh meat, prices were obtained from 87 points of sale (large and small supermarkets and neighbourhood butchers), while for delicacies from 69 points of sale (large and small supermarkets and bakeries). The Observatory covers all provinces.

The publication of the Price Observatory is a useful information tool for consumers, strengthening their ability to carry out market research and make the most advantageous purchases. It also adds transparency to the overall market picture and helps to promote competition.

The Consumer Protection Office clarifies that the Price Observatories are prepared solely for the purpose of assisting/general information to consumers and do not constitute advice under any circumstances. The Price Observatories are not intended to and cannot replace the market research to be carried out by each consumer on the basis of his or her own preferences, data and needs, nor are they intended to suggest to consumers which outlets to choose.

For the products included in this Observatory in particular, it is stressed that there are qualitative differences which cannot be taken into account in the results of a Price Observatory. To this end, the Consumer Protection Office urges consumers to carry out meaningful market research before making purchases in order to find the products and prices that meet their requirements.

Finally, it is stressed that the prices presented in each publication of the Price Observatory refer to the prices on the specific date on which the price survey has been carried out, i.e. 25 April 2024 for this particular case.

The results of the Observatory, are available at ιστοσελίδα της Υπηρεσίας Προστασίας Καταναλωτή.
