A delegation of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Cyprus (APPG-CYP) arrives in Cyprus this evening for a two-day official visit, following an invitation from the House of Representatives.
The delegation from the House of Commons is led by the Chair of the Group, Conservative Party Councillor Caroline Nokes and also includes the Group's Honorary Chair, Conservative MP Sir Roger Gale and Labour Party MPs Mr Fabian Hamilton (Vice-Chair of the APPG-CYP), Mr Bambos Charalambous (Honorary Secretary of the APPG-CYP) and Mrs Paulette Hamilton. The delegation is accompanied by the President of the National Federation of Cypriots of the United Kingdom Mr. Christos Karolis.
During their stay in Cyprus, the British MPs will be received by the President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Christodoulides and the Speaker of the House of Representatives Ms. Anita Demetriou. They will also have separate meetings with the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign and European Affairs Mr. Haris Georgiades and Members of the Committee and with the Head of the Cypriot Delegation to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Mr. Aristos Damianou. The delegation will also have a meeting with the Mayor of Famagusta Dr Simos Ioannou and members of the Famagusta Municipal Council at the Municipality's Cultural Centre in Deryneia.
In Nicosia, the British MPs will visit the Ceasefire Line, accompanied by members of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus and the anthropological laboratory of the Cyprus Missing Persons' Committee (CMP), where they will have a meeting with members of the Committee.
