Cyprus following coordinated actions by the Medical and Public Health Services of the Ministry of Health, the Department of Information Services of the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, the National e-Health Authority, as well as the University of Cyprus, has completed the procedures and has successfully joined the Global Digital Certification Network of the World Health Organization. Our country is only the sixth European country that has completed the connection to this network.

The World Health Organization's Global Digital Health Certification Network offers the digital infrastructure for the cross-border verification of health documents, thus serving the development of digital products to enhance pandemic preparedness and provide better health for all.

It is important to mention that it incorporates the technology of the European digital certificates COVID (EUDCC) developed by the European Union during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The network could in the future be used to support additional use cases such as, for example, international digital vaccination certificate, cross-border prescription verification, cross-border electronic exchange of patient summary and cross-border certification of Healthcare Professionals.
