Of great importance for the digital modernization and the enhancement of the efficiency of the state machine is the 8 million euro Enterprise Agreement that the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy has signed with the technology giant Microsoft.
The agreement concerns the supply of Microsoft 365 software licences for 10,000 users and includes a rich set of modern tools that support a wide range of tasks and processes. In particular, it provides for the licensing of email services, secure collaboration and document sharing tools, cloud computing services, project management tools, reporting and custom user interface development for easy work item management, etc. In addition to the supply of the above licenses, it is envisaged that support services will be provided by Microsoft qualified personnel and specific implementation services will be provided by the contractor/certified Microsoft partner. At the same time, the same framework includes training of executives on the optimal use of these tools, which is expected to contribute significantly to the upgrading of the digital skills of public officials.
This is the first time that the Cypriot government has entered into a strategic agreement of this magnitude, with horizontal implications for the improvement of the operation of the public sector.
