On February 19 and 20, 2024, the first part of the training of Frederick University's Social Work students in the Social Intervention Program of the Ministry of Social Welfare took place.
The goal is to integrate Frederick University students into the Social Intervention Program for 13 weeks, supervised by both the State Department of Social Welfare and the University.
It will be recalled that recent reforms have strengthened the Social Intervention Mechanism as part of the modernization and upgrading of the Minimum Guaranteed Income, which has, among other things, resulted in addressing the high volume of delays by making the application processing process faster with an average processing time of 90 days.
Social intervention is defined as the combination of actions to applicants/beneficiaries of Minimum Guaranteed Income and their family members to (a) solve practical difficulties, (b) increase motivation to look for work and at the same time, (c) manage various psychosocial problems that increase the likelihood of re-loss of work or relapse into non-work-seeking behaviours and entrapment in the EI.
In this context, a social intervention guide has been developed, which aims at fully exploring the different variables and developing an individualised action plan for each beneficiary.
